Equipping Leaders To Multiply

Four Transformational Words

I think we’d all agree that words have power. But it’s when you see words change someone in a single moment that you’re reminded of the need to use words more generously and strategically.

It doesn’t take many words to change the trajectory of a leader’s life. It just takes the right words spoken in the right moments. Solomon says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”(Proverbs 18:21)

I was leading a training session when Jim shared his story. In tears, he told how as a young man, he had no self-confidence. Then one day a pastor looked him in the eyes and said “Jim, let me tell you what I see in you…”

Jim recounted that with those four words “I see in you” his life was changed.

When someone looks at you and says, “I see in you…” it removes the blinders we may have to seeing our own potential. It triggers images of possibilities. It stimulates the spirit of anticipation. It deposits a sense of confidence.

Those words spoken in a timely manner can be used by God to change the trajectory of someone’s life.

How do you need to use your words more generously and strategically this week?
